BWH Faculty Career Development Award (FCDA)

Purpose
Provides transitional funding for Instructors and Assistant Professors to enhance productivity and growth during the early critical years of an academic career when young physicians and scientists must teach, do research, compete for grants, publish, and practice (if clinicians) at the same time they may be assuming increasing family or other responsibilities.

BWH Minority Faculty Career Development Award (MFCDA)

Purpose
Provides funding to support the career development activities of URM
academicians during the early critical years of their academic career at BWH.

$100,000 paid out over 5 years

BWH President’s Office, BWH Academic Departments, and Office for Multicultural Faculty Careers (OMC) within the CFDD

Application
Open in December. Department chairs may nominate up to 2 individuals for the Award.

Office for Multicultural Faculty Careers Travel Support

Purpose
Provides support for URM trainees to attend professional society meetings or
conferences where they will be presenting an abstract/poster or conducting a presentation.

Award
Matches departmental contributions and reimburses up to 50% of travel and
lodging expenses; contribution will not exceed $500 per individual.

Family Care Travel Award

Purpose
Assists Instructors, Assistant Professors, and Associate Professors who are caring for a dependent family member.

Award
Up to $500 to defray the cost of traveling with dependents, or extra care at home, while traveling for professional meetings critical to promoting the advancement of early career scholars with familial obligations.

Application
Open year round, as funding allows

BRI/ORC Microgrant Program

Purpose
Provides grants to fellows and junior faculty to defray expenses associated with scientific projects, training/career advancement, and special circumstances that would not be covered under current funding.

Up to $1,000

Office for Research Careers Peer Mentor Award

Purpose
Honors a Postdoc Leadership Council (PLC) member who has demonstrated leadership, active participation, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to enhancingthe postdoctoral training experience of their BWH peers.
